ROSYTH ESTATE: THE RURAL SRI LANKA AND THE CULTURE OF TEA
Not every day you stayed in a bungalow inside of a colonial tea plantation dating from 1926; Everything about Rosyth Estate House evokes a sense of time and place. This is a place to slow down, have tea on the terrace, see the mist above the hills and enjoy delicious typical food of Sri Lanka.
Located between Colombo and the cultural triangle of Sri Lanka, this private house converted into a boutique hotel is 300 meters up in the mountain on a tea and rubber plantation. It’s complicated to take your eyes off the views of the surrounding hills and jungle.
The friendly staff, many of them from the local community, are part of the charm of Rosyth Estate. There are organized visits to the tea factory, bike rides to waterfalls through rubber, tea and rice fields. We personally enjoyed a walk through nature with a local in search of unique trees and spices. Daily yoga classes in nature, a massage in the SPA, the swimming pool, a movie in the library or a cooking class, activities that will make you feel the heart of Sri Lanka. But also simply sitting on a chair on the terrace of your room with spectacular views and the sound of nature.

CUZCO
There are many accommodation options in Cuzco, but if you want a more luxurious stay, the Hotel Palacio Del Inka is without a doubt the best option, not only because of its history and tradition but also for being located in the heart of the Historic Center of Cuzco. Even beside to the temple of Koricancha or temple of the sun of the Incas. We spent some wonderful days at this hotel, we tasted its gastronomy and we enjoyed the quality of its polite service.
In addition, the Hotel Palacio del Inka, was during the Inca Empire a building that was part of the Inca Temple of the Sun (Koricancha), which reveals a long and rich history that can be seen inside, where some of the walls in the hotel were built by the Incas themselves.
The original building was built in 1438 as part of the Temple of the Sun (Qorikancha), a temple that was a vision of the Inca Pachacuti, who conquered the Chancas and incorporated them into the Inca Empire. In addition to the temple, it built numerous adjacent structures that are still preserved as walls inside the hotel. Like the anteroom of the temple, it could only be accessed with bare feet as a sign of divine respect.
The current house built on top of the Inca temple included a large courtyard with galleries of arches on three sides, a corridor, Doric columns, iron rose windows on the heavy wooden door and sculpted reliefs. The main entrance of the building also included an arch with four busts: one of «Salas», one of his sons and one of each of their respective wives.
These works gave the house the name by which it was known during the five subsequent centuries already with Spanish sovereignty: the House of the Four Busts. In addition, in the upper part of the arch, there is still the family shield with pinnacles on both sides.
Today, the house is the heart of the Inka Palace Hotel. The Palace was renovated for the first time in the 19th century and, a century later, it was inaugurated as an inn where travelers from Upper Peru stayed. In the middle of the 20th century, it became the Museum of Art of the Viceroyalty and then, in a hotel in 1973.
In 2012, the hotel underwent a renovation that lasted a year, during which every detail was recycled, from the carpets and curtains to the furniture and wallpaper of the walls, to reflect the rich culture and unique history of the building. In May 2013, once the renovation was completed, the Palacio del Inka Hotel became a member of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Luxury Collection.

One of the advantages of the Sacred Valley of the Incas is that you do not have to sacrifice comfort to spend time in a natural environment. The variety of luxury hotels and private villas within the entire Sacred Valley of the Incas make it an exceptional base to explore the entire region.
We stayed at the Hotel Tambo del Inka Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, located only an hour and a half from Cusco, and 30 minutes driving from Ollantaytambo where the train station to Machu Picchu is located.
As soon as you enter the door of the Tambo del Inka Hotel, you will be surprised by its architecture inspired by Inca constructions, details that are appreciated in the rough stone walls, as we appreciate in many Inca buildings.
Inside the hotel, there are ceilings that open to the present with polished wooden beams, Inca motifs and a stone fireplace in the lobby, as well as in the lower part of the wonderful restaurant. All with large windows with amazing views to the mountains and gardens that surround the resort.
There are only 128 rooms, all of which are very spacious and decorated with warm and simple tones, such as a balcony overlooking the garden or the mountain, a huge marble bathroom with shower and bathtub, and all kinds of comforts and amenities which provides mayor comfort and luxury.
The contemporary Andean restaurant in the hotel surprised us wonderfully. Its style resembles a barn, with high-ceilinged walls where refined local dishes such as quinoa soup, cuy and alpaca are served, as well as exceptional ceviche. The waiters are charming, kind and professional, they did it to tell us all about their gastronomy, as well as the history of the area.
When we thought that the dinner had been magnificent and that nothing could surpass it, the buffet breakfast came, which not only includes a selection of fresh fruit, sausages and all kinds of pastries, it also has a space even for vegans. We felt in love with the area of traditional food and not only for the quality of its products, but also the way in which the bakery, its cheeses and local pastries, and also the way in which it can combine products such as quinoa. I was also delighted to know that the Hotel Tambo del Inka bets and contributes to the local community to promote their products and help their economy.

Tokyo is really amazing !!, Walk through its streets is an experience for the senses, lot of color, music everywhere, video games, shops where you can find thousand of things to buy, karaokes, restaurants with robots, cafes where you can spend time with lovely hedgehogs … infinite plans and things to see in this awesome city !!. You can read more about our trip to Japan and the travel diary of our trip HERE.
In my wish list of things to do in Japan, I had to stay at the Hello Kitty Hotel in Tokyo. We were researching and finally we found the Hotel Keio Plaza Tokyo, which has several themed Hello Kitty rooms. We stayed in the Hello Kitty Town room, which is carefully decorated with Hello Kitty.
Breakfast was served in the room itself, an amazing breakfast actually, all about Hello Kitty, even in the froth of milk in the cafe, everything was to tasty, and best of all with a spectacular view of Tokyo since the room is located on the upper floors of the Keio Plaza Hotel.
The room has many Hello Kitty gifts that can be taken with you.
But the experience in this hotel – one of the most luxurious hotels in Japan – was not finished at the Hello Kitty’s room as we could enjoy some another nights at the Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo, in one of the exclusive Premier Grand rooms, which gives access Premier Loungue on the top floor of the hotel.
The Premier Grand rooms are really luxurious and spacious, which includes access to a private area with a spectacular city view from the 45th floor of the hotel. Also sleeping with open windows in the room with that view to the Tokyo skyscrapers is really impressive.
The Keio Plaza Hotel also offers experiences about Japanese culture, we enjoyed a Kimono experience something that we really loved and also the Tea Ceremony, something that we really enjoyed. We made them in the hotel itself, something that make you evades of Tokyo, your mind is far away, outside the big city.
Without a doubt, our stay at this hotel was the perfect spot to start our journey through the Japanese culture and certainly one of the most luxurious experiences you can have in Japan.

We have recently returned to the marvelous city of Marrakesh in Morocco, a bustling city full of people, cars and motorcycles, bustle and noise everywhere. So this time we decided to look for a relaxed place with an easy connection to the city center, this time we were at the Dar Ayniwen Villa Hotel Marrakech.
And this is what we are going to talk about today, about our accommodation in one of the most luxurious hotels in Marrakech. A very special and exclusive Villa-Hotel located in an excellent location inside the Palmeraie area which offers a haven of peace and tranquility with its only ten suites, each of different style offering a real homely atmosphere.
The hotel was once a family home, nowadays converted into the current Hotel Dar Ayniwen, a luxury hotel with swimming pool and SPA built by the father of the current owner, an antique collector.
One of our favorite areas of the hotel is the heated outdoor pool, where we could enjoy delicious breakfasts every morning, in the middle of nature. Exploring its gardens and its impressive collection of exotic birds is a great experience where of course and, even in winter, to enjoy the heated swimming pool.
These peaceful gardens are very well kept and surround the large swimming pool. It’s one of the few heated outdoor pools in Marrakesh, making it perfect for a swim in all seasons. Surrounded by lawns, olive trees and palm trees, equipped with comfortable sun loungers, the pool offers the perfect place to relax and enjoy an afternoon nap when the sun goes down.
The Dar Ayniwen Hotel in Marrakech is located on a land that extends over 2 hectares and offers various environments; Has a lot of wildlife, thanks to the fascinating fauna and flora of its gardens, and a unique collection of exotic birds. A walk inside is like embarking on a journey across several continents. Inside the villa, you will find a Moorish courtyard, inspired by the Alhambra of Granada, a perfect English lawn, a cactus garden, a large woodland with scented essences, a garden riad style with fountains as well as a bamboo garden.
Although the villa seems to be far from the city center, the truth is that in just 10 minutes you are in the world famous square of Jemaa el-Fna, with the hotel shuttle that leaves and returns every 30 minutes. The Hotel and its surroundings, offer everything that someone is looking for when traveling to Morocco, and the area in which the hotel is located is one of the places that list: «what to see in Marrakech».
We really enjoyed knowing that the hotel is pet-friendly, so we are looking forward to returning with Pau, so she can enjoy that wonderful setting and those fascinating gardens.

As you know, we travel quite often by ship between Spain and the UK, the main reason is because we can travel comfortably with our car and also because Pau (our Yorkshire) can travel with us quietly.
At the beginning, we decided to travel with the Brittany Ferries ships because of the obstacles and complications in the policy of traveling with animals between Europe and the United Kingdom, as you can read in our article Traveling with Pets between Spain and the United Kingdom, pets cannot travel to the UK in a cabin or on the same aircraft with us.
For some time now we have discovered Brittany Ferries’ boats and routes, which connect the UK with France and with Spain.
Brittany Ferries is a company founded in 1972 mainly aiming the export of cauliflower and artichokes from Roscoff in Ireland to Plymouth in England, since Brittany Ferries has grown to become one of the main shipping lines of the West and Center of the Channel.
Brittany Ferries began to grow with the transport of raw material to the north and tourism to the south, creating in 1981 the routes to the north of Spain (Santander), route that today is part of one of the most modern fleets of Ships on the Channel with 8 ships and more than 2500 employees. The traffic generated by Brittany Ferries in the West English Channel is the 50% of the total of movements, transporting an average of 206 million passengers, 780,000 vehicles and 170,000 cargo units every year.
HOLIDAYS BEGIN WHEN BOARDING
The route that we use between the United Kingdom and Spain is a modern cruise ship, equipped with comfortable cabins all with shower and toilet, interior and exterior, luxury suites and cabins, shops, cinemas, disco, Children’s area and, of course, extraordinary French cuisine. With this and an excellent service on board, you can travel enjoying a unique experience.
As I said, the reason we travel with Brittany Ferries is first of all, the convenience of traveling with the car and with Pau (our Yorkshire) to UK and then we take advantage of a unique type of trip that offers:
Brittany Ferries is the only shipping company that offers direct routes to the southern tourist regions from where you can access to the most beautiful areas of England. From Portsmouth is easy to travel to London or the north of the country and Scotland. We truly think that traveling on a cruise before arriving relaxed and rested to your destination is a wonderful thing.
In this cruise of Brittany Ferries you can enjoy a wonderful cuisine and service, where we are attended by a crew and French chefs. Whether it is in the «à la carte» restaurant or in the self-service, both with children’s menus, the value for money is guaranteed.
We usually eat in the «a la carte» restaurant, we usually order the fish because they have it very fresh and also the lamb because is scrumptious, all with a selection of French cheeses that we love and with a bottle of French wine. We never forgive this.
Finally the trip is really short, especially with all kinds of activities on board for the whole family, from play areas for children, childcare, to wine tastings, shops, make-up sessions, swimming pool and live music.

The United Arab Emirates presents a wide variety of destinations of interest that are recognized as exclusive and luxury travel. So, if you are interested in traveling to one of the places that make up the exuberant Emirates, we are going to propose some of the alternatives that you would surely like.
The United Arab Emirates is a federation of seven emirates located along the coasts of the Arabian Peninsula. The United Arab Emirates has become the most popular travel destination in the Middle East, due almost exclusively to the luxurious opulence and charm of the shining city of Dubai.
Dubai is a city that you really have to visit. Stroll along the Dubai Creek to take another perspective of the city, have lunch at the iconic Burj al Arab hotel to have an aerial view of the palm-shaped islands and the breathtaking world built with islands. The Gold’s Market where you can bargain for precious jewels, or visit some of the city’s excellent restaurants before catching something in one of its lively nightclubs.
To rest and relax on some of its fine sand beaches or take a short trip to the desert to walk on dunes and ride on camels. Enjoying a dinner in the desert over Persian carpets under the stars with a belly dancer is the wonderful glow of the warm Arabian night. Small things that can only be done in the United Arab Emirates.
If after being dazzled by the brightness of Dubai, you think that is not enough, you can enjoy a day trip to the neighboring emirates of Sharjah and Ajman. In both emirates there are interesting sites with a great heritage like in Sharjah, where you can not miss visiting Bait al-Naboodah, place where you can stroll through areas full of old and contemporary art, as well as enjoy the beautiful architecture of the Blue Souq.
Spending a day on the beaches of Ajman or seeing the old fort museum in the central square are two of the most relaxed activities you can find. To get back to the hustle and bustle, be sure to visit Abu Dhabi, the financial capital of the United Arab Emirates, where you can enjoy the spectacular Corniche coast, stroll through the Khalifa Park, or marvel at the Sheikh Zayed Mosque.
If we have to mention 5 exclusive trips to the Emirates, without going into details of how to visit Middle East with style, we will summarize the places of the United Arab Emirates where you can make private trips and tailor made luxury travel, our summary is:

]]>La entrada Lloyd Hotel Amsterdam se publicó primero en The World Thru My Eyes.
The Lloyd Hotel & Cultural Embassy is the first one to five star hotel in the world. The initiators were driven by a curiosity to explore the cultural luggage of guests, the wish to make a connection between Dutch culture and theirs and a zest for making visitors feel welcome. This listed national monument from 1921, which was built as a hotel for emigrants, has been converted by MVRDV architects and reopened in 2004. All 117 rooms differ in size and interior. Over 50 Dutch designers contributed to the interior.
We had the chance to enjoy the amazing history of this building where the architecture and large chunks of the interior of Lloyd Hotel bear witness to the fact that this is a building soaked in history. Climbing one of the staircases, this history unfolds in the Lloyd History exhibition which shows:
An easily accessible place for everyone, from residents of the area to artists and businessmen. A place where you feel part of Amsterdam, where you can meet local people, eat local and seasonal food and get in touch with current activities and exhibitions.
Cultural Embassy
Constantly adapting to the flux of geotravellers and the input of cultural partners, the Cultural Embassy is present throughout the building. It hosts and initiates cultural events, connects innovators from the arts and culture to each other and invites them to make new combinations between Lloyd Hotel and their experimental, radical and often boundary crossing work. In the public spaces at the heart of the building, the Cultural Embassy organises exhibitions, presentations, lectures, screenings and concerts.
The Lloyd Hotel for everyone’s budget. The room rates range vary according to room type and season from 65€ to 500€. The difference in price is linked to the difference in surface area. Service policy is the same regardless of the room type. We were in a 5 star room in the roof top and our experience was fully amazing with out pet, because one of the important points of the Lloyd Hotel is that is a pet-friendly hotel, a truly hotel for everyone.
Guest Rooms
Scattered about the 117 guest rooms of the Lloyd Hotel are works of installation art by the crop of Dutch designers, artists and architects. Form and function are blended in many of the hotel’s innovative design features: foldaway bathrooms, bespoke bed-spreads, unusual lamps, and curtains that are works of art in themselves. There are historical artefacts too, including original tiling and antique trestle tables from Lithuania, all of which serve as reminders of the building’s past. The hotel offers five categories of rooms organised according to size, but everyone shares the same level of service, including free, fast WiFi internet access and satellite TV, use of the art library, 24-hour room service from the menu and use of the shop and the Cultural Embassy.
One to five star rooms, the first hotel like that in the world
? rooms: With shared bathrooms, the rooms have been restored to their original state, with wall tiles, panelling and views across the water. Clever design features maximise available space.
?? rooms: Calm, clearcut rooms. Rubber chairs, wooden benches, steel tables and super comfortable beds. Stamped by Dutchness, these rooms do not impress their personality, so they give ample space to be you in them.
??? rooms: For these rooms, the work of big names in Dutch design was involved to create spaces that can be enjoyed to their maximum. The design blends cleverly with the given surroundings, to create interiors that subtly hint at play and that you won’t tire of.
???? rooms: Spacious rooms whose designs stay true to the original concept of the monumental building, combined with cutting edge design. These rooms are not an otherworldly bubble that you have to leave to go into Amsterdam. Urban exploration starts right here.
????? rooms: The pick of the bunch, these rooms are huge. Each one has at least one feature that will surprise even the most well travelled guest, because either there is a swing dangling from the wooden beams, a roomy bath from which you can see the moon, an Estonia grand piano, or a bed sleeping eight. We personally enjoyed the amazing room 607, the pictures speaks by itself.

]]>La entrada Lujo en Jordania / Luxury in Jordan se publicó primero en The World Thru My Eyes.
The Boulevard Arajan by Rotana», realmente sorprendente, enorme, espacioso, ¡¡podríamos vivir ahí!!.
During our recent trip to Jordan, we found wonderful places, unparalleled monuments, wonderful and kind people, full of exciting landscapes, fiery sunsets, a stunning, healthy and addictive gastronomy!, From the haunting, primeval starkness of Wadi Rum to the bustling center Amman, and from the majestic ruins of ancient civilizations to the timeless splendor of the Dead Sea, Jordan is a unique destination of imposing and mysterious places like the lost city of Petra, high standard accommodations, exquisite cuisine and countless activities to inspire, motivate and rejuvenate to all the visitors. But of all the places we visited, one of them highlighted in Amman, from the point of view of luxury, it’s an oasis of peace in the Middle East.
The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, kindly surprised us by being a modern, dynamic, stable and completely safe country for tourists, for that and despite the view we have from outside, it’s safe to travel to Jordan.
When we arrived in Amman, we were surprised by the skyline of the city, we stayed at a truly amazing luxurious apartment, huge, spacious, ‘we could live there !! «The Boulevard Arajan by Rotana». But what was really wonderful was not the hotel by itself, it was what we found just turning the corner on the Boulevard Arjan and Rotana, a pedestrian street full of people, lots of shops, where we highlight the famous Bakery Magnolia, famous for the series «Sex and the City”, which can only be found in New York, … well, and now in Amman !!, after seeing all that, we could only say,» I cannot believe we’re in Jordan.»
It turns out that the whole area is part of the Abdali project, an unprecedented modernization strategically located in the heart of the Jordanian capital, close to the main commercial, financial, public, touristic and health institutions.
The Abdali area, is called to be the new center of the city of Amman, area in which there are the most modern buildings in Jordan, residential apartments, offices and hotels, shops and various entertainment and health centers. A business center that really left us spellbound.
«The Boulevard» is a beautiful full independent space with arches of flowers, perfectly integrated into its environment composed of many buildings that form a long pedestrian avenue where we enjoyed the people, the atmosphere, shopping and dining at a fancy restaurant «Café Italia» where we met very tasty Jordanians wines
At one end of the boulevard is the Abdali Mall, a large modern shopping center where they have already appeared Zara, Oysho, Starbucks and many other large companies that have invested in the future of Jordan.
All these companies give us today a reflection of Jordan, a modern and progressive country; reflection that we can also see in the Jordanian people, who have a lifestyle and a very westernized clothes, very different from other neighboring countries.
We have become in love and very surprised with all that Jordan has to offer.

There are many ways to experience luxury at sea. Being on a cruise where service and luxury experiences are offered is one of the richest experiences traveling at sea, and what we had the opportunity to experience in a recent Caribbean cruise from Havana in Cuba, through the lush mountains of Jamaica, enjoying the clear waters of the Cayman Islands and impressive culture and cuisine of Mexico.
Our cruise across the Caribbean sea with the Italian company MSC Cruises, gave us all the luxuries of a 5 star resort with different places and atmospheres to eat with a varied cuisine through its restaurants, a SPA experience, a huge gym, a big cinema and theatre where, despite the considerable number of passengers on board, it maintains a high level of service. Impressive facilities where the seal leisure of MSC has been added with so many activities that make you feel in paradise.
For this amazing journey, from among all possible offered experiences on board, we chose the «Aurea» experience with a SPA package where besides the welcome cocktail, we had an included massage, including a shower tanning, a private «welfare» consultation and unlimited access to the SPA area throughout the cruise. Also, our room was one of the suites with balcony of the 11th floor –the highest– of the newly renovated ship MSC Opera, we also had priority boarding, access to the private solarium and bar on the highest point of the ship, a set of beauty products, the option of have lunch/dinner in restaurants without a reservation, and also we had a table assigned exclusively for us. The experience was also an «all-inclusive» drinks, something that on luxury cruises, is another of the many attributes that differentiate this style of cruise other and style cruise vacation, in this case we could felt that we received more what we expected from a «normal» cruise.
The luxury cruise ship has a higher proportion of crew and service personnel on the number of passengers, in the same way, the space-passenger ratio on these boats is typically higher than in other cruises. I was pleasantly surprised as the first morning when we leave our suite, the guy in charge of cleaning and maintaining our hallway gave us the good morning by our names, «Good morning Alfonso, I wish you a happy day on board» and each time we saw him, he always had good wishes for us and always using our names.
The Comfort of our cruise was not only in the notes above, we also found it landing every day in a different port to take an excursion, to go on transport with few passengers or in a smaller transport, small groups that provide maximum comfort to discover any place.
In-short, when you don’t have to sign a bill for the drinks is perhaps the most liberating aspect of luxury cruises. Drinking champagne before a meal, drink good wine with dinner and enjoy a liquor or a cocktail after dinner without thinking that the amount of drinks is being added to the final bill. On-board services, such as SPA treatments and laundry service, gym with a personal trainer and a private table in the restaurants for you throughout the journey of the cruise, as well as access to private areas is one of the great advantages of cruises luxury.
